Chinese Society Of Agro-Ecological Environment Protection is a non-governmental, non-profit and specialized organization. The Society consists of voluntary scientists, technicians and managers who work on protection of the agricultural ecological environment allover the country. It initiates the scientific spirit of dedication, bring forth new ideas, seeking truth and cooperation. It unites all the agro-environmentists to promote the nationwide agro-environment protection and to devote their efforts to the sustainable development of agriculture under a principle of democratically running the Society.

The Society engages in the following professional affairs:

1. Promoting exchanges of the concerned academic or technological issues;

2. Editing and publishing academic periodic, specialized monographs, popular science books and the concerned data;

3. Popularizing scientific knowledge and extending advanced technologies or experiences concerned with agricultural eco-environment protection;

4. Conducting professional education and technical training;

5. Under the commitment by concerned department of the governments, to authenticate the development strategies, policies and technical countermeasures regarding agricultural eco-environment protection; to provide consulting service for technical-economic entities in order to promote the market-oriental development of scientific achievements; to verify scientific research projects and to examine the research results; and to recommend personnel’s rank promoting;

6. Promoting international cooperation to channel the non-governmental exchange between the agro-environmentists foreign and domestic;

7. To commend and recommend the excellent persons who work on agro-environment protetcion;

8. Reporting the opinions, suggestions and requirements of the agro-environmentists and to save guard their lawful rights.

Thre are 7 specialized committees setting up under Chinese Society for Agricultural Eco-Environment Protection, including:

l The Agro-Environment Management Committee;

l The Agro-Environment Monitoring Committee;

l The Agro-products Environmental Security Conmmittee;

l The Eco-Agriculture Committee;

l The Agricultural Bio-Diversity Conservation Conmmittee;

l The Grassland Ecology And Animal Husbandry Environment Protection Committee;

l And the Sub-Society for Fishery Environment Protection.

The Society has 67 collective member units and more than 3000 personal members at present.

The Society has hold more than 30 symposiums in various topics with more than 1500 participants since its inauguration in 1981. The Society has organized 10 times of scientific surveys, investigations and discussions. A series of books on know-how of the agro-environment protection and many monographs have been published by the Society. A study group on assessment of the agro-environment quality and a training class on eco-agriculture were also hold. The academic periodical, Agro-environment Protection and agro-environment & Development, is edited and published by the Society.
